ASK YOUR INNER CHILD

Are you like me forgetting to ask your inner child for help when you’re dealing with tough healing issues? I usually seem to go it alone before I remember that I have one of the best healing tools in the world right inside me, my inner child.

For those of you who don’t know who that inner child is, it’s you. You at the young age that experienced and saw the world ruled by adults while encountering acceptance and rejection of you, as well as the dos and don’ts of life. All this probably left you for many years with the impression that you had absolutely no power over your life at all. Your life was at the whim of your parents or other adults whose desires out weighed your own.

HIDDEN MEMORIES

So you learned what in life was good and bad, friendly and dangerous, acceptable and unacceptable according to their rules. At that age we also misinterpret a lot of what is being said or done. We can even establish a belief that we are to blame for things that occur when in reality they may not even pertain to us at all. We are extremely impressionable when we’re young.

It is those early beliefs that cement our brains into how we look, think and act in the world. It also determines how we feel about ourselves and our parents, as well as anyone we knew during those years. As we grow we gain more beliefs from other sources; higher education, bosses, and daily life. However, we always live life by the basic core beliefs and aspects we learned in our early years without ever paying attention to the fact that they may actually interfere with our lives.

MISINTERPRETATION

For instance, if you were born in 1940 or 50’s, you may remember being told to eat all the food on your plate because of all of the starving children in China. As you aged perhaps you become an over eater. Your forgotten or unseen idea of “guilt” for not eating your whole meal, reinforced by how much luckier your are than those Chinese children, may have driven your eating habits to an unhealthy level without you even being cognizant of it. Whereas, in reality, this was a behavioral tool of that time frame in your parents lives that brought that statement into being.

There really were starving children in China at that time due to World War II and a change in their leadership. Nonetheless, it was not because of children in the USA having food. There were hard economic times for the USA as well after World War II. This statement was used by adults in general to raise a guilty feeling in children and adults for the purpose of trying to avoid less food waste as the country recovered from the war. It was not the children’s fault, but many of us took on the guilt without knowing it wasn’t us.

That hidden belief of guilt can kill any diet very quickly. Trust me, I know. Our childhood beliefs, anger, frustration, happiness, fears, moods, and so much more are all solidly stored inside us, even though we may have long forgotten what they are. The place to go to find them is in the subconscious. One of our most valuable tools and guides into that realm is communication with our inner child.

GIFT TO YOURSELF

There are pieces of our emotional and mental memories and experiences that we have never grown up and recovered from, such as hurts or traumatic issues we have lived through. These pieces are trapped inside us leaving a memory at the exact moment and age when they occurred. The inner child has access to those memories and feelings and can help us recollect them so they can be healed.

Healing these blocks helps enable us to understand and view our fears and doubts, thus allowing a different point of view to emerge. This enables us to make new and different choices in how we act and react to life’s situations.

HOW AND WHY

There are numerous resources available to learn more about working with your Inner Child; bookstores, internet, YouTube, as well as college and internet classes. There are psychologists and counselors who are trained to work with individuals who feel their issues need guided or deeper assistance. One of the most common ways to access your inner child is through meditation.

For those of you who feel this information has struck a cord with you, I will be adding an additional one or two posts on Inner Child modalities and resources in the near future. Please feel free to contact me via my Contact Page.

WINNING

By enabling the subconscious to release parts of old memories and stuck energy we allow for deep healing to take place on all levels of our being; physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. This work allows us to experience more of life. This freedom to be more of who we genuinely are at our soul level often takes us closer to our true purpose in life. A journey well worth taking.
